Coach and Minibus Hire in the United Kingdom

Glasgow Airport coach transfers: Zone C and the M8

Glasgow Airport puts every coach and bus in one place: Zone C, inside the terminal multi-storey right outside the building. It is short-stay, so any waiting happens somewhere else.

Loading in Zone C

Zone C is uncovered, has room for large coaches and has no height restriction, so minibuses and other tall vehicles use it too. Stays of up to 15 minutes are charged, paid by card at the forecourt exit barrier. Anything longer belongs in Short Stay parking.

Fifteen minutes is loading time. Have the group gathered with bags before the coach comes up.

Only 30 minutes of free waiting

A coach that turns up before its passengers land gets 30 free minutes in Long Stay. That is the only coach waiting the airport publishes. If a flight is an hour late, the operator needs to know, so put flight numbers in the request.

For tall vehicles: the Car Park 1 surface lot has no height limit, unlike its multi-storey and unlike Car Park 2.

Where the driver meets you

  • All coaches and buses drop off and pick up in Zone C of the Pick Up and Drop Off facility, in the terminal multi-storey directly outside the main terminal building. Zone C is uncovered, has room for large coaches and has no height restriction, so minibuses and other tall vehicles use it too.

Where coaches wait

  • Coaches that arrive before their passengers land may wait free for 30 minutes in the Long Stay car park.

Drive to the city centre

  • about 9 miles by road to George Square via the M8, about 15-20 min in light traffic; longer at peak times

Getting there on the M8

The airport is reached from junction 28 of the M8 from the east or junction 29 from the west. George Square is about 9 miles by road via the M8, some 15 to 20 minutes in light traffic.

Glasgow's Low Emission Zone

The LEZ covers about one square mile of the centre, bounded by the M8 to the north and west, the Clyde to the south and Saltmarket and High Street to the east. The M8 itself is outside it. Coaches need Euro VI; a minibus needs Euro 6 (diesel) or Euro 4 (petrol).

You cannot pay to enter a Scottish LEZ. A non-compliant vehicle caught on camera gets a penalty charge notice. For any city-centre hotel inside the zone, ask for a compliant coach.

Concerts and conferences at the SEC

The Scottish Event Campus on the Clyde hosts the OVO Hydro, the SEC Centre and the Armadillo. The Hydro drop-off and pick-up zone is at the west of the SEC Centre. For a group flying in for a show, one coach can cover the airport, the hotel and the venue in a single booking.
